A Letter to Congress
Dear Representative Van Duyne, Senator Cornyn, and Senator Cruz
I am writing to express my deep concern about the growing influence of billionaires like Elon Musk and other powerful figures in the tech industry over our government and democratic institutions. What was once an industry driven by innovation and progress has increasingly turned into a concentrated power structure that threatens fair competition, national security, and the integrity of our democratic system.
Recent actions by Musk and other prominent tech leaders—whether through their manipulation of social media platforms, unchecked monopolistic behaviors, or open disdain for regulatory oversight—raise alarming questions about their political ambitions and the potential for a corporate-driven coup on our government. The influence they wield over digital infrastructure, defense contracts, and even public discourse is unprecedented, and without proper checks and balances, it poses a grave threat to the American people’s ability to govern themselves free from the interference of a handful of unelected billionaires.
As my elected representatives, I urge you to take a stand against this creeping corporate takeover of our institutions. Congress must enact stronger antitrust measures, reinforce campaign finance reforms to limit the political influence of tech oligarchs, and ensure that key infrastructure—such as social media platforms and satellite communications—cannot be used as leverage to influence government decisions or suppress public discourse.
The United States has always stood as a beacon of democracy, not an oligarchy ruled by a select few. I implore you to uphold the values of our republic and push for legislative action to safeguard our government from the outsized influence of tech moguls who are increasingly operating beyond accountability.
